What data we process
When you enquire or contact us, we may process your name, email, phone number, message, chosen car, dates, handover location and selected services. When entering into an agreement, we also process data needed to verify the driver, hand over the car, take payment and meet legal obligations.
When searching for a handover location, the address text is sent through our server to Photon (Komoot), which searches OpenStreetMap data. We do not share your contact details or your browser’s direct IP address with it. You can also enter the address manually.
Saves your car, dates and extras on this device for 7 days after the last change. We do not save pickup addresses or contact details this way. Turning it off deletes the saved selection; your currently open form stays intact.
Why we use your data
- handling enquiries and preparing quotes — steps before entering into a contract,
- entering into and performing the rental agreement, handing over and returning the car,
- maintaining accounting and tax records — a legal obligation,
- protecting and enforcing legal claims — a legitimate interest,
- answering general questions — a legitimate interest in communicating with customers.
We do not use your contact details for marketing without an appropriate legal basis.
How long we keep data
We keep enquiries that do not result in an agreement for as long as needed to handle them, up to 12 months after the last communication. Contract-related data is kept during performance and afterwards as needed to protect legal claims. Accounting and tax records are kept for the periods required by law.
Data involved in a complaint, dispute or other proceeding may be kept until it is finally resolved and related claims are settled.
Who may access the data
Vercel hosts the website and securely receives forms; Google Workspace provides enquiry records and email communication. We first save your enquiry in private Vercel storage in Frankfurt so you do not have to wait for Google. Once transfer to our records is confirmed, we remove this temporary copy. We retain a technical receipt without contact details for 7 days to prevent duplicates.
Where necessary, data may be processed by hosting, email and IT support providers, accounting and legal advisers, payment providers, insurers or assistance services. Each recipient receives only the data needed for their task.
We do not sell personal data. If a provider processes data outside the European Economic Area, we will use the appropriate legal safeguards required by law.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you have rights of access, correction or erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.
Send your request to info@getawaycars.io. You also have the right to complain to the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection.

We may update this text when services or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will always be published here.
